PROPERTY AND TECHNICAL SERVICES Ltd considers Occupational Safety and Welfare to be a very vital issue in our operations.
The company subscribe to the Factories Act. V1 (Laws of Jamaica) which conforms to the ILO and UNDP conventions on Occupational Safety Health and Welfare in the Construction Industry (RAS/86/072)
Our company’s Occupational Safety Health and Welfare Policy sums up our attitude to this vital issue:
Property and Technical Services Ltd., is committed to promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, customers and other people at our worksites or who may be affected by them.
Our goal is to secure and promote the Safety, Health and Welfare of our people and to achieve an “accident free” environment at work.
The Company recognises the responsibilities and requirements placed upon it by Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Codes of Practice and will adhere to these principles and provide:
· Information, instruction and supervision for all employees, visitors and contractors relevant to the OSHW Systems and procedures of the site.
· Consultation with all employees on OSHW issues, including any changes to work practices and, procedures, or before the introduction of new plant and equipment.
· Training programs to prevent accidents, including coordinating workplace inspections in conjunction with employees.
· All Managers, Team Leaders and Supervisors are responsible for implementing the Company’s safety programs to ensure a safe work environment. This includes reporting any OSHW concerns or issues they become aware of to senior management where these cannot be addressed within their level of authority.
Our Safety Manager and Supervisors are responsible for becoming familiar with the company’s OSHW manual for implementing the Company’s safety programs to ensure a safe work environment. This includes reporting any OSHW concerns or issues they become aware of, to senior management where these cannot be addressed within their level of authority. All employees are expected to fulfill their obligations with respect to OSHW legislation by fully participating in Company safety programs, reporting injuries and incidents and following all safety directions, regulations and procedures. Where the OHS Management System is found to be inadequate, it must be reviewed and upgraded. All staff is requested to adopt these principles and to actively implement this policy.
